There are numerous ways of catching fish, but rules must be maintained at all times, shrimping is a definite no-no, along with salmon putty (a mixture of slat salmon eggs, flour and a few other ingredients) which can land you in jail. So don’t say i didn’t warn you.
SALMON and SEATROUT
ROD: a decent stiff rod is in definite need, depending how you’re fishing,
spinning a 10-foot rod with a good strong reel with adjustable drag.
LINE: a strength 10 to 15 pound line that wont twist easily, a size 10 to 12
line for fly fishing with an 8 pound leader to attach the fly.
FLIES/SPINNERS/BAIT: Ally’s shrimp, stoat’s tail, tube flies in same patterns
and sizes, toys, flying "C" and natural lures such as rappel’s. Salmon don’t feed in freshwater (you’re
thinking of course they do), well no they don’t so when someone says that worms
are there favourite food, that person knows jack. Salmon attack on natural aggression
and instinct from over feeding for the sea, basically something moves they eat
it.
TROUT and COARSE FISH
ROD: basically the same for salmon but a shorter rod will do and a good
flexible 9 foot fly rod will do fine.
LINE: 8-pound strength at the maximum, maybe a size 5 to 9 line with a five-pound
leader.
FLIES/SPINNERS/BAIT: blue butcher, silver teal, and a collection of natural dry
flies. Baits are maggots, worms, grubs or anything that naturally can fall or
live in the water.
